Purpose

The Service Learning Initiative seeks to provide academic, social, career, and personal experiences in accordance with the mission of Vineland Public Schools. The program presents opportunities for students to apply the knowledge, skills and strategies acquired through curricular and co-curricular opportunities to community based projects, programs, and activities with instruction and reflection that enriches the learning experience, teaches civic responsibility, and strengthens the community. Service learning will enable students to become knowledgeable, skillful, life-long learners who are contributing citizens in our changing society.

Service Learning Overview & Requirements

Earning 40 Service Learning Hours is a graduation requirement for all 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.  Students MUST earn a minimum of 40 hours by the end of their senior year. To start, we encourage 10 service learning hours during freshman year. However, students may earn as many hours as they would like towards their 40 hours. Any student that earns 100 service learning hours will receive a cord to wear at graduation to reward their outstanding volunteerism and service to our community.
