On June 7, 1875, just 14 years after Charles K. Landis founded his community of Vineland, The Daily Journal was born.
A part of local history almost from the beginning, it was the first daily newspaper issued in Vineland. The paper consisted of four pages with a yearly subscription rate of $2.
W.E. Cansdell, a local printer, singer and actor once described as Vineland's William Randolph Hearst, published The Daily Journal from the office of another paper, the weekly Vineland Independent.
